New on 500px : Elephant cliff, Dyrholaey Iceland by triplezimmie by triplezimmie

Dyrhólaey is a small and rocky peninsula, not far from the village Vik in the south of Iceland. It name derives/means “the door hole island”. It got its name from the massive stone arch that the sea has eroded from the headland.

In the summertime, this area is home to quite a large number of puffins. Unfortunately, we were there a bit too early in the season and we missed them.

Somehow the cliff and rocky peninsula look like a elephant to me, hence the title. 🙂

New on 500px : Go with the flow Driel The Netherlands by triplezimmie by triplezimmie

The typical Dutch scenery provides ample opportunity for making photos of pastures and fields. As is the case many times, the fields are divided by ditches. This one in Driel is quite close to my home. I had to get down into the the ditch itself to be able to take this pov, but my loyal boots kept my feet dry 🙂 I thought this photo would work quite well in black and white, as it gives a little bit extra to the ominous clouds.
