New on 500px : Avant Garde(n of Eden) by RyanDyar by RyanDyar

**IN CASE THIS REACHES THE FRONT PAGE** I just wanted to let the word spread that while I was in Norway in March, I found an SD card with a lot of good images on it from Iceland, Monument Valley, and some cute blonde gal who is probably your wife or girlfriend or… something else. If you happen to see this and you want the card, just email me! Found the card at this spot: http://ift.tt/1ISHkJf

The lesser traveled north side of Mount Hood is a personal favorite area of mine, though the backpacking isn’t the most pleasurable. Often times muddy with 100% chance of mosquito showers. Skin left exposed ends up looking like a dark brown shag carpet as it gets covered in the little bastards.

Ok, maybe I’m exaggerating a bit, but it still sucks. However the grand views of Hood from these meadows at Elk Cove are plenty rewarding, and of the few times I’ve been to this spot, you tend to have it all to yourself.

A new instructional video is in the works and should be available within the next week. People seem to really be enjoying the videos and have had nothing but great things to say, so I *think* they are helping people… it’s been awesome to see the many before/after shots people have been emailing me. Be sure to check the videos out if you are into that sort of thing. It’s all on my website, as well as more photos, photo tour info, processing instruction via Skype like everyone else is doing, etc, etc.

New on 500px : Inflorescence. by BrianAdelberg by BrianAdelberg

Here’s a shot taken last year with a few good friends. The sunset ended up being socked in so I left my tripod with this composition in high hopes the sky would clear. Sometime around 3 am I woke up in my trusty Subaru and noticed some stars out the window. When I rolled over to look at Mt. Saint Helens not only was she out but the milky way was in a awesome spot! I stumbled back out to my camera took 6 frames and went back to bed. Sometimes you just get little lucky 🙂 Have a great day everyone!

New on 500px : Sunrise Stroll by candacebartlett by candacebartlett

Aside from landscape photography, I also enjoy taking images of wildlife when I’m able and the timing is right. This is an image taken last Summer during a trip to Glacier National Park, shortly after sunrise. After a wonderful morning out shooting with friend Rob Macklin, we decided to head back to the car in pursuit of some delicious razzleberry pie at the Park Cafe in St. Mary.
Of course, one of the best times of day to witness the surrounding wildlife is around sunrise and we lucked out with our timing, as we noticed this handsome fellow in one of the nearby fields while heading back. Thankfully, I had brought along my 70-200mm lens and was able to grab a few quick snaps of him as he searched around for a meal. The nice, warm sunlight approaching from sunrise began to gently caress the field and it almost seemed like it served as a spotlight for him as he stood proudly, gazing out in our direction. While this shot doesn’t depict just how gorgeous the sunrise was on this particular morning or how majestic a creature this fellow was, I tried to do the moment justice here by capturing what I could in those brief few seconds.
Thank you for taking a look. 🙂

New on 500px : The Great Beyond by landESCAPEphotography by landESCAPEphotography

Hi, everyone! This is the beautiful flower-filled plateau at Rowena Crest in Oregon. This is a very popular area at sunrise and sunset. After shooting sunset, I realized this view faces east-southeast, which is where the Milky Way rises in the spring. I did a panorama during late twilight, slept in my car for a while, then returned for a panorama of the Milky Way arching over the flowers. Unfortunately, though there was enough ambient light, the constant wind here makes it nearly impossible to shoot the flowers with satisfactory sharpness at night, so I blended the two panos together. Everything is true to its position in the scene. Not sure if those are shooting stars or satellites.

I really hope you enjoy the image!
