New on 500px : Tatoosh Mountains by troymason by troymason

A friend and I went on a 9 mile, 3,500 foot elevation gain snowshoe trip out of Longmire in Mount Rainier National Park, which delivered exquisite views of Mount Rainier to the north, and the Tatoosh Range to the south. Mount Rainier was barely visible, so I focused on the Tatoosh.

I was never very happy with the color version, but really appreciate this in monochrome. Hope you agree. Happy Easter!

Older image from Palouse taken from Steptoe Butte. I liked the color after adjusting with luminosity masks, but feel that the monochrome is much more dramatic. Enjoy!!!

New on 500px : Cherry blossoms over Jefferson IR mono by izzy2 by izzy2

Springtime cherry blossom watch and festival is one of the popular Washington DC annual celebration events. It started with a gift of 2000 Japanese cherry trees from Tokyo mayor to the city of Washington in 1912. Majority of cherry trees in the DC area now are single white blossom Yoshino (around the Tidal Basin) and Kwanzan cherry trees elsewhere. The first annual Cherry Blossom Festival took place in 1935. The festival includes 10 mile run, kite flying, Japanese stone lantern lighting, fireworks and parade and lasts 3 weeks and is attended by nearly million visitors.

New on 500px : A skier’s perspective: Can you spot the skier? by Alpine_State_of_Mind by Alpine_State_of_Mind

Can you spot the skier?

Nothing speaks more to me about the vastness of nature and in turn, the wilderness, than those broad canvases I get to see and photograph.

Moreover, alone on this lake, the skier brings perspective to these wide spaces: the trees, the lake, the cups of slope, the leaning shadows.

But, it isn’t the skier that my eyes are led to first and that is what I like most about this photo. I hope you all like it as well.
