The tricolored herons have had a very active breeding season and many chicks are almost ready to leave their nests. I am fascinated that the chicks, somewhat ungainly and scruffy looking, can turn into such elegant adult birds. These birds are some of my favorites—-from the Wakodahatchee Wetlands.
