The mill lies about 125 meters west of the IJsselmeerdijk, southwest of Volendam and grinds through a bosom and a 17th century sluice directly out onto the open water of the IJsselmeer. Such polder drainage system fairly frequently used to come along the former Zuiderzee coast, but has now become a rarity. If only for that reason, this ensemble of great cultural and historical value. The mill has an important landscape feature in an open landscape.
