Taiko is a drumming style of Japanese origin. Various taiko drums have been used in Japan for over 1400 years, and possibly much longer. The word taiko actually refers to the drums themselves. Literally, taiko means “fat drum,” although there is a vast array of shapes and sizes of taiko drum.
