One of my favorite spots in Ann Arbor is Nickels Arcade. There are a few times of year when the sun shines right through. I love lying on the ground waiting for the deep shadows of people going by. Here a guy just left the barber shop.

After being in Boston for a week for work, I was soooo excited to wake up early on my day off to shoot the sunrise. As it happened, when I got up at 3:30 for the 5pm crest of the sun, I heard the heavy rain. I was about to call it quits but ultimately decided to see what I could find in the dark downpour. A few streets away from my Air BnB apartment, I found this lovely street – Acorn Street. While shooting, it was impossible to keep the rain off of my lens using my hood and umbrella, so there are bits of water in the shot. I actually love that part and hope you do too.

The Boston Harbor is undoubtedly the most photographed place in the city. As there was heavy fog around sunset, I decided to play around with the skyline by keeping half of the long exposure still, and then slowing moving the camera for the second half. It’s a bit different and I like it, so here it is!

I wanted to portray the sleepy, chill vibe of Beantown as if it were on speed. As I was waiting for the perfect moment where the train came around the corner, I was approached by the Boston Police. They were wondering what I was doing. In hind sight, I should have realized that taking photos of trains looked suspicious. They were cool though and after a background check, let me continue my work:-)

I posted this a little while ago for like ten minutes before realizing I put a pre-cropped image. Sorry for those who already “liked” it.
