One of my favorite birds: the Northern Goshawk, the queen of the Dutch forest. Here she is guarding her prey agains other birds of prey that are near but out of my sight. She won’t give it up without a fight. You have got to love nature and its creations. Cheers, my friend!

After hearing a flock of crows making terrible noise in the garden I went out and saw about 30 crows in a tree staring down to this northern goshawk (Accipiter gentilis, Habicht) in the neighbour’s garden feeding on a wild pidgeon, that I saw about half an hour earlier in our garden.

I sat in a forest in the southern part of the Netherlands waiting for things to happen, when this male Goshawk showed up. After a short period this goshawk takes on a defensive posture when another Goshawk is in the process of preforming an attack on him. What awesome birds they are! You have got to love nature and its creations.
