New on 500px : Tatoosh Mountains by troymason by troymason

A friend and I went on a 9 mile, 3,500 foot elevation gain snowshoe trip out of Longmire in Mount Rainier National Park, which delivered exquisite views of Mount Rainier to the north, and the Tatoosh Range to the south. Mount Rainier was barely visible, so I focused on the Tatoosh.

Washington’s Tatoosh range during a perfectly calm sunrise between winter storms, as seen from the flank of Mount Rainier. I was going to upload a higher-res file to accomodate 500px’s new “news feed” layout, but my computer is currently packed away and this 900px version is all I had saved elsewhere. Sorry!

Did some snowshoeing and winter camping at Mount Rainier, Washington last weekend with my buddy Michael Bollino. This place (as with any) looks quite different when you’re standing on thirteen feet of snow! Several more new images from this trip to come. I’m also currently working on my first official processing video, which has been in high demand for a couple years. However, I’m relocating back to the northwest soon, so the release may have to wait until then.

My new Website is up and running 😀

This was taken on a summit bid on Mt. Rainier about 3 years back just after cresting the Disappointment Cleaver. Weather really hampered our summit bid; I got no shut eye thanks to 60mph winds up at Camp Muir that let up enough after midnight to head for the summit only to get nailed by super poor visibility thanks to a nasty lenticular cloud near the top. Unfortunately I didn’t summit, but this photo will always hold a special place in my heart; especially since I’m going to to start training for my next attempt at the summit for my 30th birthday next year.
