New on 500px : Louvre’s pyramid by RamelliSerge by RamelliSerge

One of the cool thing about the Louvre is that the sun sets behind the pyramid and if you’re very lucky on the right date you can get some really amazing colors, I love how the pyramid is very modern but isn’t a complete contrast with the monument. I keep coming back to take photos it’s breathtaking.

New on 500px : Cloudy Eve at Pyramids, Paris – HDR by SinisaCiglenecki by SinisaCiglenecki

HDR photo of the scene at the Louvre Palace, Paris. I took this photo in the early evening. Beautiful cloudy sky enhanced the atmosphere of the scene. The Louvre Palace is a former royal palace located on the Right Bank of the Seine in Paris, between the Tuileries Gardens and the church of Saint-Germain l’Auxerrois.

Working nearby in the early seventies, I was a frequent visitor of the Louvre. At this time the place was very quiet no IM Pei Pyramid, no queuing up, the Da Vinci painting was displayed among’s other renaissance master pieces without any fuss, time has changed!

The Louvre Pyramid (Pyramide du Louvre) is a large glass and metal pyramid designed by Chinese American architect I.M. Pei, surrounded by three smaller pyramids, in the main courtyard (Cour Napoléon) of the Louvre Palace (Palais du Louvre) in Paris. The large pyramid serves as the main entrance to the Louvre Museum. Completed in 1989,[1] it has become a landmark of the city of Paris.
