New on 500px : Dark mood… by ellydc by ellydc

I believe the dark mood perfectly describes the tragic attack in Belgium, my home country, today. My thoughts go to the victims and their families….. so sad and no words to describe or comprehension what so ever…

New on 500px : The Lost Mills by Brains11 by Brains11

There was a lot of thick mist during my latest trip to Kinderdijk. After about one and a half hour it slowly disappeared after sunrise. I took 3 shots in that period of time, the first one while I could hardly see a thing, the second when the closest windmill started to show up and the last one when the other mills slowly became visible. Of course my gear was not moved during that time. In post I blended these 3 images and this was the final result………..

New on 500px : Sunset Over Holland. by remoscarfo by remoscarfo

Sorry no EXIF details i load this Photo up from my iPad.
When I’m back home, I will add them.

A visit to Kinderdijk gives you the extraordinary opportunity to visit a UNESCO World Heritage in Holland. In 1997, the windmill complex of Kinderdijk was added to the prestigious UNESCO World Heritage list because of its unique character. UNESCO considers the polder area with its dykes, boezems, mills and pumping stations to be proof of human inventiveness in reclaiming and protecting the land. This is worldwide recognition of the fact that this unique area must be preserved for the future.

New on 500px : Kinderdijk windmills by Dennisartphotography by Dennisartphotography

A significant part of Holland is situated up to approximately 7 meters below sea level. The Dutch don’t notice any of this though, because an incredibly innovative and intricate system keeps the ever-rising seawater from flooding the land. Even during spring tide, the Dutch are safely guarded from being washed away…

The most important aspect of UNESCO World Heritage Kinderdijk is undoubtedly the unique collection of 19 authentic windmills, which are considered a Dutch icon throughout the entire world
