Non à la peur … Non à l’intolérance … Non à la terreur … Je suis Bruxelles
No to fear…No to intolerance…No to terror…I am with Brussels
I had difficulty editing some beautiful scenery shots last night after another day of meaningless violence. I am a gene biologist and head a team of researchers from around the world. I feel extremely fortunate to work with people from so many cultures, faiths and traditions in our shared quest to understand genetic diseases. I will vote against the UK leaving the EU. If I was still living in the US, I would be dismayed by the popularity of intolerance and fear.
This picture is of rails on the shores of the Firth of Clyde, west of Glasgow, Scotland. Their origins are unclear, but are thought to have been used in the early 1940s for craft launching and recovery during preparations for the beach landings in Northern France. In this shot, I have used the vivid rust colours of the rails to represent the red and yellow of the Belgian flag amongst the black cobbles. Sadly terror is global and I could have used so many colours.
I am grateful for any feedback on the concept or execution of this image. Love to all…Adam.
