Photographing the redwoods at the Humboldt Redwood forest in the last light of the evening a few weeks ago was amazing and spooky. Ryan Engstrom and I split up to find our own comps. There was a faint breeze which was stronger higher up. As the light faded, the breeze caused the giant trees to creak slowly. I could hear everything… The creak of the trees, the rustle of animals in bushes, the faint humming of mosquito’s and other insects. It was magical…. and downright spooky. Hence the title. Evening here is a world at war. Torn between light and dark. Magical and potentially terrifying. And I loved every second of every minute of it.
