New on 500px : Bathtub Cemetery by djramos1114 by djramos1114

BATHTUB CEMETERY
“I only sing in the shower. I would join a choir, but I don’t think my bathtub can hold that many people.”
“At New England Demolition and Salvage, located in New Bedford, Massachusetts there are literally miles (80,000 square feet to be exact) of salvaged building materials, hardware and antiques waiting to be sifted through.”
Today I took some time and decide to photograph this place.
What a day fantastic place to be! A place to make you travel in time, where you can buy your own peace of history and bring it to your home… RIGHT HERE IN NEW BEDFORD…

New on 500px : Christmas at the Royal Albert Hall by perkster24 by perkster24

I was wondering how many of you guys outside the UK have heard of this place? The Royal Albert Hall sits on the northern edge of South Kensington, London, and is probably best known for holding the Proms concerts annually each summer since 1941.

Since its opening by Queen Victoria in 1871, the world’s leading artists from many performance genres have appeared on its stage and it has become one of the UK’s most treasured and distinctive buildings. Each year it hosts more than 390 shows in the main auditorium, including classical, rock and pop concerts, ballet, opera, film screenings with live orchestra, sports, award ceremonies, school and community events, charity performances and banquets. It has a capacity of up to 5,272 seats. The Hall is a registered charity held in trust for the nation and receives no public or government funding.

The place was heaving with revellers last weekend, (13 Dec), all eager to participate in the annual Christmas carol sing-along. Nothing gets you in the mood for Christmas like a carol concert especially when there’s a full choir and orchestra to hand. Mix that with the spectacular setting of the RAH and you’re guaranteed huge helpings of Christmas spirit. We’ve been a few times now and knew the form. Battery powered Christmas lights, mince pies, reindeer antler headbands and of course you have to join in with the singing.

New on 500px : Calton Hill cannon by klaasfidom by klaasfidom

This is a well travelled cannon. The Royal Arms of Spain is in cast relief on top of the barrel. The cannon was transported to the Portugese colonies in southeast Asia sometime before 1785. There is an inscription along side of coat of arms, written later, and is thought to be Burmese, as the cannon was once kept by a Burmese King. It was captured by the British during the invasion of Burma in 1885 and presented to Edinburgh in 1886.
