Ignore the poor composition, the tide was coming in at a furious rate and I could only stand in this spot for about 2 min then I would be underwater. This is the Pawleys Island Pier, and this is the the first roll of Fuji Acros 100 120 film in my new RZ67 II Pro medium format camera, frame 8. Welcome to my first test roll in this new camera! I was attempting long exposures and this one is 64 seconds. As I said, with a bit of thought I would have chosen a different tide in order to have nothing in the foreground but water, and the groin. Still, all in all I am quite pleased with the new system. I used both a hand held spot meter and the prism finder/meter attatched to the camera. I metered on the sky right at the horizon and placed it in Zone 5 or 18% gray. Both meters agreed with each other. The prism finder/meter is amazingly heavy at 3.5 pounds so I will not be using it much. I had to overcome a ton of camera control issues (as we all do when trying a new camera for the first time) and had to call it short. Upon returning home I put another roll of film in it and sat down and experimented with the control system to make sure that I fully understood how to get the camera to shoot with mirror lock up in the time mode (mechanical shutter release instead of electronic). I have it down now and will go out tomorrow and try this again but with much longer exposures. The nice thing about Acros 100 film is that there is ZERO reciprocity up to 140 seconds and then only 1/2 stop beyond that making it the PERFECT flim for long exposure film areas…….. Hopefully tomorrow my experience will be much better!
