New on 500px : Information Overload 010101010101 by kenlambrecht by kenlambrecht

I’m going to get a little nerdy here, explaining the title of this photograph. In the computing world, the basic unit of information is called a bit (binary digit). In the binary numeral system (base-2), only two numeric values can be expressed: typically 0 and 1. This can be implemented physically in electronics (such as computers) using logic gates. The “off” state represents 0 and the “on” state represents 1. Visually, we could express this as black and white, dark and light. So that’s what went through my mind as I contemplated this image. As high-tech as all of that sounds, the image itself is of a rusted, dented ventilation grating on an old recreational vehicle that is parked down the street from my house. 🙂
