The Tasman Glacier is the largest of several glaciers which flow south and east towards the Mackenzie Basin from the Southern Alps in New Zealand’s South Island. It is New Zealand’s longest glacier at 27 kms. Like a lot of the worlds glaciers, it is retreating at around 180 metres per year. Parking in the Tasman Glacier car park, it is a short 15 min walk to this location.
