Dyrhólaey is a small and rocky peninsula, not far from the village Vik in the south of Iceland. It name derives/means “the door hole island”. It got its name from the massive stone arch that the sea has eroded from the headland.

In the summertime, this area is home to quite a large number of puffins. Unfortunately, we were there a bit too early in the season and we missed them.

Somehow the cliff and rocky peninsula look like a elephant to me, hence the title. 🙂

While we were off to Krimml for a skiing trip, you would expect me to post photos of the skiing! However, this waterfall was near our hotel, so I could not resist taking a photo of it!

As usual with waterfalls, I did a long exposure and I rendered it in black and white. Why? Because I like it 🙂
