Elephants living at the Chobe National Park are Kalahari elephants, the largest in size of all known elephant populations. They are characterized by rather brittle ivory and short tusks, perhaps due to calcium deficiency in the soils.

Lucky to have the Brooklyn Bridge almost to ourselves on this Saturday morning I took tons of shots. Somehow this one kept calling me, but I wondered why. And then it hit me that it looked a bit like an elephant.

The sun sets over the plains of Namibia as a lone elephant quenches his thirst, while some giraffe amble away from the waterhole. This image is NOT a composite or digital creation – many of them around here on 500px depicting wildlife in idyllic situations. No sir, this photo is as captured from my RAW file – just an epic sunset at a remote waterhole in Etosha, photographed from an underground concrete bunker. I hope you like it!!
