New on 500px : Elephant cliff, Dyrholaey Iceland by triplezimmie by triplezimmie

Dyrhólaey is a small and rocky peninsula, not far from the village Vik in the south of Iceland. It name derives/means “the door hole island”. It got its name from the massive stone arch that the sea has eroded from the headland.

In the summertime, this area is home to quite a large number of puffins. Unfortunately, we were there a bit too early in the season and we missed them.

Somehow the cliff and rocky peninsula look like a elephant to me, hence the title. 🙂

New on 500px : Every Day Is Better With Friends by tchebotarev by tchebotarev

It’s better to meet the sunset with friends. One of the first days of our journey we experienced a very beautiful sight at Dyrhólaey.

While Iurie Belegurschi was taking a photo, I set up my camera slightly behind to capture both him and the setting sun. I think it turned out to be OK.
