The shoot required careful planning to ensure the clearest possible reflection in the dock, and was captured during unusually low wind speeds and when very few boats were crossing the dock. The final image is a blend of several exposures (including some where the shutter speed extended to three, five and 12 minutes), with the earliest taken as the first glimpse of early-morning light appeared in the sky, and continuing through to the moment when the sunrise began to cast a warm glow against the buildings.
