While I was waiting for my flight to Melbourne, I shot this image of the mesmerising mobile sculpture ‘Kinetic Rain’ at Terminal One at Changi International Airport.
Several of the movement sequences seem to mimic dragon-like movements, with their grace and undulation.
This is deceptively hard to shoot, as each ‘raindrop’ – there are more than 1,200 of them – is in constant motion.
Hence, you might shoot the same movement sequence more than once if you stand there for half an hour or more – but it’s almost impossible to exactly replicate the motion across an entire frame.
I’ve shot this scene dozens of times, at different parts of the day (when it takes on different light characteristics) and believe me, I still haven’t got the definitive shot yet!
