New on 500px : “Let me stand up like a Taiwanese!” by Tsai_CT by Tsai_CT

I would like to try a shot with mixing some history contexts.
The background of the photo displayed “Let met stand up as a Taiwanese” is one line of Chthonic’s “Supreme Pain to the Tyrant”. This song is illustrated an attempted assassination of then-Vice Premier Chiang Ching-kuo (dictator Chiang Kai-shek’s son) in New York City. “Let met stand up as a Taiwanese” is shout by the assassin after his bullet miss from Chiang Ching-kuo and had him pressed on the ground by polices. His action is considered a stimulus for political reform in Taiwan and his quote is inspiring Taiwan independence movement.
The shot is taken during an extraordinary free concert held by the most famous Taiwanese heavy metal band, Chthonic. For about two decades, Chthonic has blend both Taiwanese tragic events in history and ancient mythology into their black death metal music. This concert is not only marked the 20th anniversary of Chthonic, but also as a political rally for its lead singer Freddy Lim. Freddy Lim runs for parliament after Sunflower student movement at 2014 and represents a means “to channel the energy and frustration of young activists and frustrated Taiwanese”. Furthermore, the theme of this concert is set as ” to calm the soul and defend the nation” but held in Liberty Square, Taipei, where is in front of a memorial hall for a Chiang Kai-shek. Chiang Kai-shek was a dictator once ruling Taiwan with bloody and oppressing ways.
