New on 500px : A Communal Cup by PatKofahl by PatKofahl

This simple photograph says quite bit about Chefchaouen, and in turn, Moroccan society. The family and guests eat from a communal dish, and a fairly strict set of protocols is observed. It’s a daily occurrence that seems to have no Western parallel. I wonder, then if the ritual has the effect of making the family a more close-knit unit, or whether it might be a simple extension or signator of the bond that Moroccan Families enjoy? Witness here, the communal cup, that is used by all in the sharing of a vital communal resource…water, the staff of life!

New on 500px : Blue Door – Chefchaouen by PatKofahl by PatKofahl

Chefchaouen, the Blue Pearl, situated high in the Rif Mountains of Morocco is perched between two mountainous peaks. The name derives from the Berber language and means “Look at the Horns.” The blue washed buildings give the mountain hamlet a cool serenity that attracts visitors from all over the world.
