The award winning WMS Boathouse at Clark Park on the Chicago River was designed by Chicago architect Jeanne Gang and her firm Studio Gang Architects. The boathouse has two parts: A sprawling, one-story boat storage shed that doubles as a canoe-kayak rental outlet; and a compact, two-story field house with advanced training facilities such as an indoor rowing tank.

As the City of Chicago works to transform the Chicago River into its next recreational frontier, Studio Gang’s WMS Boathouse at Clark Park helps catalyze necessary momentum. By creating a key public access point along the river’s edge, it supports the larger movement toward an ecological and recreational revival of the Chicago River. Three more boathouses are planned.

The WMS Boathouse at Clark Park is the premier rowing center in the city, with year round training and facilities unmatched in the region. Through partnership with the Chicago Rowing Foundation, they will provide low-cost community programs in addition to existing recreational and competitive teams. In addition to hosting Park District campers and community-inclusive learn-to-row and open rowing events, the Foundation will also facilitate participation of high schools and middle schools in rowing at Clark Park.
