These are the common starlings in East Africa – quite different from the Southern African starlings. They are really SUPERB – and I tried to get a picture that would do this beauty some element of justice… I think this is a reasonable depiction, but I will be back in East Africa in June, and will try to do better!!

The lovely Greater Blue-eared Starling is seen early in the morning sitting on a tree-trunk observing it’s surroundings very keenly with it’s beady yellow eyes.
