And here is the last shot in this tulip series. Just hours after taking this shot the first petals started to fall. I think tulips in particular (and some orchid varieties) are unusually beautiful as they start to wilt . . .

I’ll post two more of these tulips before a little break from posting I’ll have to take next week due to my day job. I hope seeing this series go up on my profile has not been too repetitive. I just really enjoy exploring a single subject sometimes, be it a car, a flower, a location . . .

I like watching a flower go through its entire cycle to full bloom to fallen and dried. I hesitate to say death or until it dies . . .

Can’t help myself – in spring I shoot as a many flowers as I can. Particularly fun with the large format camera this year.

So, after a few weeks I feel like I’m in the full production swing with the new 4×5 camera and developing the sheets at home. Still plenty to learn, but can crank out some shots. This was exposed yesterday. My mother-in-law always brings flowers for the house when she visits. These are some tulips she brought last week. There is a little tilt/shift in this shot exposed in the wonderful natural light in front of big windows in my living room.
